ABOUT SOPHIE O'DONOVAN

Sophie O’Donovan is a cinematographer, Cork born and Dublin based.

Sophie obtained a first class honours degree in Film & Television Production from IADT Dun Laoghaire in 2019, majoring in Cinematography and Minoring in Experimental Direction.

In 2018 she won the Argento Award for Best Cinematography at the Austin Arthouse Film Festival for the experimental film Skin Hunger. 

In 2021 Sophie was presented with an award for Best Cinematography by acclaimed DOP Kate McCullough at the Women in Film & Television Showcase for the film Dash. Sophie also received the film Agility Award from the Arts Council of Ireland that same year. 

In 2023 Sophie was chosen to shadow British DOP Nick Cooke on the feature film Bring Them Down. Her work on documentary When Horses Run, had its release through Virgin Media. Her latest cinematography work In Heat, a short film funded by Film 4 and the BFI, is set to release in 2024.
